If you're from the south, then chances are you share our universal affection for barbeque! BBQ is as southern of a tradition as apple pie and endearing lexicon. This food-born trademark, famous for its saucy ingredients and finger-lickin’ goodness, is simply a way of life for some! And now, The Junior League of Ocala is bringing BBQ to town in a big way! In 2011, the inaugural Pig Out! The Junior League of Ocala's BBQ Contest is coming to the Florida Horse Park for Marion County's first annual professional barbeque contest. Sanctioned by the Florida Bar-B-Que Association (FBA), the contest will include a number of competitive BBQ’ers from around the state of Florida, who will compete for prizes and recognition for their quality barbecue.
Competitive teams won't be the only ones slow cooking and smoking at the event either - local "backyard BBQ-ers" are also invited to participate and show Ocala what good BBQ tastes like too!
So join JLO on May 14, 2011 for good music, great food and family fun ... and let’s pig out, Ocala!"
